Handicap Pentathlon 

2000m Ergo Indoor Rower 

The following additional rules to the general rules apply to the 2000m Ergo Indoor Rower events: 

 a. Competitors are to declare their age and weight category to the Event Official at the event to ensure they are placed into the correct category. 

 b. The Ergo Concept 2 Rower ‘damper’ will be set by the Event Officials to a Drag Factor according to the UK Indoor Rowing guidelines as follows: 

Ladies 1st Category Drag Factor set between 115 – 125 

Ladies 2nd Category Drag Factor set between 120 – 130 

Mens 1st Category Drag Factor set between 120 – 135   

Mens 2nd Category Drag Factor set between 125 – 140 

 c. Competitors will be allowed a 2 minute period prior to their ‘row’ to get the foot straps in place and warm up.  

 d. Competitors are to start the 2000m from a ‘non-moving fly wheel’ – the Indoor Rower at complete stop. 

 e. The Indoor Rower computer display will be set at 2000m prior to the start of the row and the metres will reduce as the row time increases.  When the 2000m have been rowed, the competitor’s finish time for the 2000m will be recorded from the time shown on the Indoor Rower display.  

The Competition is open to all BRJ Senior Members and consists of 5 events with the individual’s best 3 scores to count towards the Competition.  There are both male and female Competitions using the same events on the same evenings.  Competitors can take part in as many of the 5 events as they wish, but to have the best chance of a good placing, they need to take part in the minimum of 3 events with all 3 events counting towards their score.  Each discipline has been scheduled to take place on 2 evenings (3 for Indoor Rowing) to try and ensure maximum participation.  However, competitors can only take part in each discipline once.  Each competitor will be permitted to play one ‘Joker’ where his/her score for their nominated ‘Joker’ event will be increased by 10%.
